Question EGR COOLER REPLACEMENT

OK...going to have the EGR Cooler replaced this Friday...$800+ repair...according to the diesel stop forum, this is caused by excessive idling and/or poor fuel quality...can anyone tell me what excessive idling is?..I cannot find a way to see how many engine hours are spent idling....no menu option and my scantron doesn't tel me... btw..this is sonar_91

Ford considers excessive idling more than 10 minutes for every engine hour.

Current engine hours-4971
current engine idle time-771
I bought the truck with 88K miles on it. It currently has 129K miles on it. Diesel tech foreman showed me how to access the info. So.....using your info.... anything over .2 ratio is excessive....mathematically speaking mine falls under that...so how do I prevent this at 250K?

The best way to keep the cooler clean is to run the motor hard.

Stuff Like towing is what it was made for. Use the truck as intended and that will help keep it clean.

Id like to do the same. Cant really find anything on youtube or internet forum that gives you step by step removal and cleaning.
