I'm looking to do a small lift on my '85 f-150 4x2 and was wondering what the best way to go about lifting the front suspension is? Is there a way to do it w/o lift springs? if i have to use lift springs what kind of front-end resetting am i looking at? in the rear i'm planning on doing a block lift. At school my truck is already the biggest thing on the lot, but there's an Xterra there that's pretty close in height , but you can still see the roof of my truck between his roof and his roofrack. i need to reclaim my position w/o buying bigger tires

EDIT: would springs off of a 4x4 or a v-8 truck provide any lift over the stock springs on my 6 cylinder?
the body lift is much cheaper and i'm not sure what you'd be worried about, i always recommend the 2" for aesthetic reasons unless you want to mess with bumpers.
I went out and took a look at the truck an realized it really wouldn't be that big of a deal. i came up with on thing that I do have a question about. What about the steering (power), will i have to do anything with that like lengthening or throwing another universal in, and what about the floor shifter? I have the NP435, will i hit any snags on this?
body lifts are so gay and cheap....and they look so crappy. Skyjacker makes the best lift equipment for Fords and I highly recommend them. you could get a cheap set of spring spacers which are as gay as a body lift. Or you could do what my dad did and stretch the springs at home. Or you could do what i tell everyone....BEHOLD THE SAWZALL

You may have to get a dropped pitman arm but that should be all....and the only time you will have to worry about the floor shifter is with a body lift and that would require a lil handy work on the shifter...nothing you couldn't do at home

I had no probs with the tranny shifter just the tcase. The tranny shifter sits a little lower just because the cab is higher but it doesn't hit on anything. I had a little bind in my steering after i did it but it went away after a couple of days. the ebrake i pulled out of the first hole in the cab mount and just left it that way. It is a little loose untill you press on it then it works fine. The back bumper i had no probs moving up but the front i mad a custom bumper out of c channel and and away from the fram so i can fit my future winch in there( ) Have some nice big clevis hanging on up front. But hey function over form right.
