1963 Econo-Pickup Parking/E-Brake Pic

I picked up a 1963 E Pickup and the parking/e-brake "lever" is only a stub sticking into the cab.
Can someone post a pic of what should be there?
Also a pic on the front of the engine hood in-between the latches, I currently have to empty holes.
Thanks in advance!

Can you post a pic of what you have? How much of a e-brake stub do you have?
One of the holes you mentioned might be for the choke control, or it could be a previous owner drilled some extra holes.

I don't have a pic on file. But I do have a schematic of the braking system.

The hole with the little key way is for the choke control. You pull out to choke the engine on cold mornings. It is possible someone changed out the carburetor with one with an automatic choke.

The hole above it does not look like one put in by ford or a dealer.

The E-brake handle was a plastic part that broke because of time, and because folks put too much stress on it. Here is a link to someone making an aluminum replacement.
Buy 61 62 63 64 65 66 67 New Aluminum Econoline Parking Brake Handle motorcycle in Las Vegas, Nevada, US, for US $40.00
There should be a small hole near the top of your shaft where the pin holds the handle on.

The Mustang and Falcon handle are the same as the Econoline, except the writing is upside down.

This one says it is for the Econoline, but looks upside down.

The pin that holds the handle in place is Ford part number C0DZ 2819-A, which is a 0.162"(5/32") O.D. - 0.41" (13/32") long steel pin.

The Econoline handle is Ford part number C3UZ 2760-A, and should come with the pin.

The trick to keeping a plastic handle around for years is to grip the parking brake handle with the vertical shaft between your index and middle finger. That way when you pull up on the handle, you put pressure on both sides of the handle, which pulls the handle straight up. If you put all of your fingers on the same side of the vertical shaft, then folks have a tendency to pull up at a slight angle, thus putting an angled pressure on the plastic handle.

I've seen folks weld a small piece of metal to the top of the shaft.

C3UZ-2760-A .. Parking Brake Handle-Includes Pin / Obsolete

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

The 1960/65 Falcon/Comet; 1962/65 Fairlane & 1965/66 Mustang handle (C0DZ-2760-B) will work, but BRAKE will read upside down.

Does it operate like a pull up to engage and a twist to release?

Pull straight up about 6-8 inches to engage the parking brake.
Twist slightly and lower the handle to the bottom to release the brake.
