I was cleaning the back seat area earlier and i noticed water in the driver side ash tray... Has anyone ever experienced this? Where could the water be coming from? I guess the most obvious place to look would be the top...but i dont see how it could get in the ash tray....
Could be the top, but I would also check to see if you have cracks in the sheet metal on the rain gutters above the drivers side door. This is a very common problem with Bronco’s.
Ditto to Christop43's post. I would suspect the rain gutter cracks long before the top being a problem. Those blasted cracks let water n and all the way down to the rocker panels if it rains hard enough. I have pics of the kind of cracks we are talking about in my gallery.
Make sure you pull the trim panels behind the seats and clean out the area below the seat belt retractors. This area collects a lot of dirt and will retain the moisture that came in through the drip rail cracks. This will cause the rockers to rust out below the retractors. If you clean it out and dry it up, you should avoid future problems. I also recommend drilling a couple holes in the B-pillar near the retractors to speed up drying the inside of the pillar.
Ford did issue a TSB on this problem and it has been discussed to death. Do a search for the topic. From what I have gathered, the TSB is available but the necessary components to perform the repair are not. I'm not sure anyone has actually ever seen the components that Ford claims needed to be used in the repair process. And short of the body work to fix them, gobs of some type of sealer is about the only thing I have ever heard anyone using.
