I could drive the crap out of that Model A rpu!! B model engine with winfield grind cam, down draft carb, Mallory ignition, 4 speed with overdrive from an early 80s pickup, we'd be a-flying!!
I would say 'don't tease us with this s#!t... Can't you tell us how to respond to these CL ads.? I just replied to a CL ad about a non ford truck!!!!
Ok I think this qualifies for the CL truck thread. Engine is free and complete, but really I don't care. I have a good running 59ab and a good running 8rt that both need a home. Don't tell my wife, but I bought it yesterday. Gotta make a run to Hayden Idaho to retrieve it....Has 2 more wheels and tires and a front bumper. I think that being a 1 1/2 ton pickup, sitting 'way up firm and high' on those 20" wheels is what made me stray. I picture it with my oxy-atcetylene set strapped to a steel headache rack, perhaps a set of Yankee 77 cab clearance lights. Just an old junkyard dog moving my other wrecks around on the back 5 acres down in 'the hole'. As stated in yet another John Prine song. "It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while"....
Don't you remember I tried that a couple of winters ago? ... I have actually been in touch with some car hauler guys that are quoting 325.00- 450.00 to get it to a rest area near the ferry terminal. I need to pick up a load of beams there in the next week or two. I could time the arrival as my beam guy is flexible. With ferry times I would need to make the Idaho a 2 day trip with a motel. I don't sleep in truck cabs in the winter. With the delivery idea I would only be off the island for 4 hours. I doubt I will do anything on the studebaker until summer. Oh well, maybe try to get the six cyl running and see how it goes. That's the most fun part of these adventures in my book, but I have definitely experienced some disappointments.
