Hey folks, I pulled a 300 with T-18 out of a 78 2wd F250 and am trying to separate the two at the bellhousing. I've removed all the bolts, but can't seem to get the two apart. I'm not sure it's ever been done since it left the factory, so I'm assuming it's just stuck. Any trick to get them separated? Thanks!
Also... any idea what this piece is called and where I can find a new one? It's the housing of the rear (output?) shaft that sits on the crossmember and connects the driveshaft.
If your T18 was like mine you may want to get the grease off and double check the number of bolts.
I don't remember mine being difficult to seperate. But the engine was still in the truck. I remember it being heavy.
I took the trany off the bell housing first then the bell housing off the motor.
Mine I am sure mine has been apart before, missing bolts & cross member brackets, but yours should not be hard to come apart.
As for that housing most of the time its called a tail shaft housing. They also come in different sizes & types.

From my Google-wandering, it looks like tail housing or tailshaft housing is what it is. I see a few for 4wd, but I haven't found one that looks like it's a match for my 2wd. I'll try to pull a casting number off it today and see what I can find. Thanks!
