actuator

2010 F-250 vacume pump is running all the time. Pulled a vacume on the right side wheel and it won't pull any, guess seals or actuator. Any one have details on how to change this? Thanks in advance!

PVH solenoid or crack in vacuum reservoir or faulty vacuum line between the two is my guess at this point. Your wheel hub seals are further down the line. Vacuum only goes to the hubs when you turn selector to 4x4 and or back to 2x4. Your PVH solenoid only releases vacuum for a short period of time when switching from 4x4 to 2x4 or visa versa...otherwise it should hold vacuum between itself and the pump. So check your lines between solenoid and pump...as well as reservoir.

pulled the vacuum hose off the right side at the wheel, tied pulling vacuum and it will not pull any at all. The left side did hold. Whats next? think the seals are bad in the hub?

You connected the vacuum pump where the hose goes into the hub and could pull no vacuum?

Yeah it's probably a leaking hub.

Have you tried doing any maintenance to the auto-lock hub?

I'm doing this myself tomorrow for the first time and I think you can see if the diaphragm is bad once you pull the auto-lock hub out.

I might be wrong but if it's not pulling a vacuum...

I don't have a smoke machine but it's pretty cool on video where they pump smoke into the hub and if there's a leak it's obvious.

Yes either your knuckle seal, or the locking hub, or the hub o rings are bad on the right side. BUUUUUUT if your pump is running all the time constantly even without touching the 4x4 switch on the dash...then I quote my first reply......

OK, yesterday I started at the top, check all line from the pump to the wheel and the reservoir. all holding, couldn't find a smoke machine, went old school and blew cigar some through a tube hooked to the inlet at the wheel, and smoke came out the back of the knuckle. So according to the video I saw on you tube I have a leaking knuckle seal, which looks like fun to change, do you all concur? thanks for all the input!!
