my truck came from the factory without ac.do they make an air compressor that bolts to the spot where the ac compressor usually fits. it would be nice for inflating things or blowing stuff off or running air tools.

Don't think there is anything "cheap and easy".

In the early days of med duty trucks there were single/twin cylinder compressors that were V belt driven to supply air for brakes.

Typically not very small. About the size of your std home compressor pump.

I suppose it would be easy to hook up, but with no oil supply I wonder how they expect it to last? You would have to inject oil into the intake then everything you used it for would have oil mist in it.

Yeah using an A/C compressor probably isn't the best option, they are designed to run continuously with PAG oil, any other spec would probably cause compressor failure.

My Dad did this on our '73 Merc wagon. He didn't use it much. But it was there when needed. Come to think of it, I don't remember not having a/c, either.

My older Chryslers (like 60s) had a compressor with an oil sump, not oiled by the oil in the gas. but they were sizable.
