97 F350, 7.3 Ltr OBS. The right side headlight is very yellow and weathered and I want to replace it. Is there a clear lens outside the headlight itself. What I found on Rock Auto looks like a oldstyle headlamp, not just the bulb. I cannot find an outer cover or lens. Along with the fact it looks like a monkey doing a donut to get this thing out.
Even though it's more expensive, when I do it, I think I'll spring for oem parts.
On the last 97 F350 I owned, I did the crystal clear headlights. They looked great, but within a year, they always clouded with condensation and the light pattern was not that great.
I wasn't looking to go aftermarket on the headlights in the truck. I will install something on the bumper when it is complete. I just want to get rid of the discolored lamp cover and wanted to find the parts before tearing it apart. Having to order thru the mail is a long process which I am sure that you know being from north Anchortown. Thanks for the link, lots of good info there.
Absolutely, I hate the wait... and then there is the raping they think they should give us to get items here...
Not sure where you are at, but there are still a few decent wrecking yards around and I know I have seen a few decent sets of headlight housings. Hilltop Recyclers in Chugiak is one of the yards I frequent because it's close to me.
do you guys do for some moister in the headlite? I wonder about using a hair dryer or my heat gun. & and removing lite from truck yuck. & then sealing around the surface? Silicone or what for sealing. It is a after market headlite from LMC. Been in the truck 7 plus years. Friskyjake
I am in Seward so even the yards are telephone calls and checking the national parts on line listing. I have been looking for an antenna for a while also but guess I need to just spend a day and drive to town walk thru the yards

That is way too cool. I need an antenna, mounts in passenger side fender and clear headlight lenses. I am on the slope thru the weekend. If they have a suitable donor please let me know.

No worries, I don't get home from Red Dog till Monday night, weather permitting...
It's really disappointing that modern vehicles have plastic headlights that change color and cloud-up in the sun. It wouldn't be so bad if a guy could just pull out the old ones and put in the new ones like the old sealed beams used to offer. And they were provided with glass lenses that laughed at the sun.
Well it wasn't exactly convenient to carry a sealed beam spare in your glove box back in the day... That's the big advantage to bulb-type headlights. But indeed, the housing could still have a glass lens. In fact, I swapped the sealed beams in my '85 with glass housings that take halogen bulbs. Best of both worlds; I can carry a spare bulb in the glove box, and the lens won't yellow over time.
