My experience is if you have a 5.4 motor, it is almost always the coil/ wire....... If it is a 4.6 motor, I have seen several injector problems that originally I thought were COPS misfires.
Also too, if you didn't clean out the carbon from the spark plug threads and below, you may not have seated the plug as well as you thought and have carbon blowing past the plug. Did you get a ticking sound at the same time?
