Gents,
Has anybody removed the FX4/ 4x4 decals from thier '04s yet? I would think to use a hair drier and peel them off. Any problems or uneven color left after doing this? Thanks
Loren
Using the hair dryer to heat them up and then gently get under them with your finger nail and peel them off would probably be your best bet. If you immediately take them off when you buy the truck new they shouldn't leave any discoloration.
I like to heat the area up a little bit with a hair dryer, then I spray it with some goo gone and let it sit for a few seconds. It will come right off.
Just wash the area, dry it, and wax it after you are done.
NRA Joe,
I took them off my '04 FX4... I think it looks neat since my truck is monotone dark shadow grey. Just a cleaner, less showy look. Thanks for the feedback, though.
Loren
You can get them off if they've been on for a while, too, without any discoloration. My '02 had been on the lot for a year when I bought it, and the "Off Road" decals were a tough peel (coming off in parts, rather than one clean pull), but off they eventually came. There are adhesive/wax/grease/etc. removers available at auto parts stores that will safely clean up any remaining adhesive. You can use WD-40, too, although that's probably not recommended by paint manufacturers....
