Drive Line Refresh

Well its time to freshen up the drive line. I replaced the carrier about 150k ago or more and ujoints prolly 100k or more.
Starting to get some good vibration between 40 and 50 mph.

Looking for part numbers for all the ujoints if anyone is willing to share. Id like to get spicer or neapco.

As for the carrier i know Rich and a few others swear by the neapco carrier bearing. I want to go that route this time. Any one got the correct part number for that ? I read in another thread its N235200 but i just want to make for certain that part number will work for my rig.

Thanks for the help !

All three joints in the rear drive shaft should be spicer 5-1410x

Looking at the Neapco website shows 4 different center supports (https://neapco.mycarparts.net/#data=...t_attributes):

N211016X, N211361-1X, N212053-1X, and N212093-1x. They all seem to have the same ID (1.5748") with only some slight variations.

Drivetrain America (Neapco N211431X Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Ford - Drivetrain America) is showing a Neapco part number that isn't listed above.

How do you know which one is the right one??!!?!?!?! Stop the insanity!

In my case, I didn't. First go around, I bought the wrong one(AutoZone). Want until I had the d.l. down and tore apart I when I measured accordingly... You can get all 4 from the parts house, find the right one, then take all back and order the anchor in right size.. Their great and cheap price, too👍

Ok so i went with all spicer joints and carrier. Installed over the weekend. All went good. The rear ujoint by the diff.... one of the caps i was able to push it in by hand. this has me a bit worried. as if that one hole in the shaft was really wallered out. I literally pushed it in with my thumb. All the others i pressed in with my press. Oh i can only imagine somethings wrong there.
Time will tell i guess.

My only advice is fix it sooner rather than later.

The PO of my truck ignored a bad u-joint and clunky slip-yoke too long and it cracked the tail-housing on my transmission in half the first time I took it to 70 MPH driving home after I bought it. My rear end was shot too - probably also related. I basically had everything from the flywheel back replaced. It was not cheap. The transmission also turned out to be full of radiator fluid so it was good timing.

I would suggest just having the whole driveshaft rebuilt.... If you DIY it, at the very least, check your slip-yoke thoroughly for full movement, no hangups and no play. $300 for a full rebuild is good insurance.

Also, never buy a truck from white trash, no matter how cheap it is.
