Dude where did my oil go?
So I start up my 06 V10 this morning and it is ticking badly, shut it off and check oil and there is none. WTH, it dose have 5k on the oil and was checked and only slightly low in the past 800 miles.
Dumped 6 quarts in to the darn thing and wasn't full... No smoke, no leaks it's just gone. Am I doomed?
It's a farm truck and earns its keep and has done so Very well.

Don't have much choice but to fill it with oil, run it and try to figure out where it is going. Consuming 6 quarts in 800 miles would be noticeable even with the cats. I'd suspect a good sized leak somewhere or someone sucked the oil out. Short trips can use oil at an increased rate but not that increased.
If it is still running ok after 1000 miles it wouldn't hurt to pull a sample of oil and send it off for UOA. See if there is coolant, bearing material, etc in the sample.
I also would shorten up your OCIs considering how the truck is used. You don't have to run synthetic oil just change it more often.

Yeah go by engine hours. I always thought going by mileage was a poor way to track maintenance. At least you can see hours on your display, mine does not.
With the temperatures you are seeing I would run a 0w30 oil. I have been running it in mine for several winters now and I can tell the difference. At 0 degrees F I am looking at around a 7-8psi drop in oil pressure at startup with the 0w30 synthetic vs 5w30 synthetic. I was getting as high as 86psi at startup on the 5w.

The F-series got that in 05'. I don't know if the E-series ever got it. The E-series never got the 3V and a bunch of stuff the F-series got. Ford neglected several different models over the years and then wondered why sales numbers kept declining on those models, gee I wonder.
