If I divide 140,000mi by 3206hrs I should be able to figure the average lifetime speed, correct? If so it's around 43.6mph, significantly faster than I was expecting.
This would assume the truck is moving 100% of the time it is running. Which is impossible
I had a problem like this in my '99 Superduty V10. Mine was because of a defective PCV valve. Replaced it with an aftermarket PCV valve and the problem continued. Replaced that with OEM Motorcraft PCV and problem went away.

You could have a sticky ring; had that same symptom a few years back w/ another engine, no evidence of leaks, started dropping a quart/ week for 2-3 weeks; ADDED some MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) in it, and after a week went back to 3,000/QT. Been working Ok now for several years, and I occasionally add a 8-32-oz of MMO for giggles/ grins.
TIP: Additionally, MMO was tested against Seafoam (as seen on Youtube recently), and did a much better job of removing piston carbon, at a much, much lower cost. (Admittedly, I have been a MMO user/ convert for 50+ years :-)
In my particular case I am strongly suspecting the PCV valve. It was between -15°/-20° and drove the truck 1 mile to the farm and never really worked it enough to really warm anything up and let it idle for hours.
My current theory is that the PCV valve froze or gummed up in the open position and prolonged idling let it suck oil? Hasn’t seemed to be an issue since it warmed up?
If memory serves me right in order to replace the PCV on the 3V you need to buy the entire valve cover assembly. The PCV valve is built into the valve cover. Make sure you go over all the hoses to check for cracks or breaks.

Now, to be polite, THAT would seriously torque my jaw.... glad I have the 2v
With it that cold the exhaust never quit steaming, it’s possible I could have missed that? Never smelled oil though?
mine still has an intermittent smoking issue (see other thread), and I always smell it, which always leads to me looking at the passenger side mirror and then seeing the blue - ish smoke.
And mine has never gone empty like yours did... no way could you have missed burning 5qts of oil as quickly as your report. .. I suspect sabotage. Do you have any enemies?

sorry for derailing the thread a little bit but exactly what’s your procedure for the MMO treatment?
I’m due for an oil change very soon and I’d like to do the MMO.
Just add a quart of the stuff to the crank case for 10 minutes of idling before an oil change?
