so would i still be ok doing the x codes in the front and getting the F code on the rear?
If they are your only choice then yes. I have a spring thread somewhere on here. I did a lot of research before I changed mine. I dug up all the specs for the various springs, weighed my truck and made a spreadsheet to calculate where I would be in each spring for given loading conditions. I never did much with the F code for a few reasons. I bought new, the F's were really pricey and during my research I learned what to look for as far as rates/ratios of. Leaf springs are rated in simple terms, primary rate and secondary. Those are the numbers I quoted above. In the real world, the rate is progressive. If it was like what is posted, you would really feel the engagement of the secondary. For good ride including engagement, a ratio of 2:1 is best. Meaning the Secondary rate/Primary. 777/334 = 2.3 for the F and for the B 670/320 = 2.1. I chose SRW C codes that are just below 2. I will say that I am trained and have done spring/shock tuning in my past. Most people wouldn't notice the difference and any Super Duty spring is an upgrade over the Excursion spring. The main issue in my opinion with the Ex spring is that it is flat so the ride quality will is poor. The SD springs have an arch to them. My truck rides really well. I chose the V's for the front because so many were happy with them. For my taste, I'd like the front end up a bit so I may add my overload from my C to the front pack. The nice part of the OL spring is that it is tapered so it won't affect and the rate will go up with deflection. I will gain the spring thickness plus maybe a 1/4" I calculate. All in all, about 3/4".
In summary, I think you will like any super duty spring you find for your truck.
