Block Heater

I have noticed a difference between my old truck 06 F350 SW KR and my new truck 15 F350 DRW KR. With the 06 I could plug in the block heater on 0F weather and my truck would be blowing warm air through the heater before I got out of my driveway. Heater set to auto and 72. With my 15 it takes until I am 1/2 way to work to start blowing good heat. I know the block heater is working somewhat because the gauge will show the engine temperature at about 80. Just wondering if there is a difference in the set up with the block heaters in the newer trucks.

There are no adjustments for the block heater except the length of time it is plugged into an outlet. The heater element is inserted in the block near the oil filter. Similar location as to other engines.

The rapid supplement heat was an option ordered on many of the trucks that added electrical supplemental heat in the cab.

If you set the climate controls to "Auto" and remote start the truck, it will turn on the seat heater if equipped and also help with the water temp as it circulates the water. Probably not a vast heat improvement with remote start but some.

I've noticed when using the AUTO feature of the climate control the blower fan will not increase in speed until engine coolant reaches a set point. If using the defrost function instead the blower speed can be increased which will help warm the cabin sooner even if the coolant is not up to operating temperature yet.
