As the title states, I finally found an Excursion that wasn't overpriced or rusted out. I settled on a 2003 Limited V10 at 150k miles, at $ 7,300.
I am comfortable w/the price considering the interior condition and the truck only needs a few things done!
I recently sold my 2006 F-250 Super Duty 6.0L. Interesting enough on the drive back w/the Excursion I am already impressed w/the throttle response and the power. I came from the 6.0L at 100k miles, SCT x4 Tune, EGR delete, new up pipe, and MBF exhaust....And surprisingly to say this V10 leaves me not wanting more, which seems backwards.
The biggest reason I switched? I wanted more room at the $$$ is not even comparable. I sold my F-250 for $20,650, and bought this beast for a third of the price.
I will miss the torque on towing my camping trailer, but i'm already digging this v10. I would like to unleash a little more HP/torque, but i've got a long list of fluids to change etc...before the fun begins!
Yes i know the V10 drinks gas, but it's my Sat/Sun/Camping SUV so i'm good saving up for those $100 fill ups.
That is a sharp looking EX, congrats!
Do you know what gears it has?
Gears are 3.73. I’m looking through your signature and you have a lot of things I plan on doing.I also wanted to say that I wasn’t putting down the 6.0 or diesel...Just I am impressed by the V10, and look forward to the lower cost of future repairs.

It's a wonderful engine, the premium price the diesels pull in will sure pay for a lot of gas! I've had my current one going on 8 years and 42k miles. I've spent about $16,500 in gas during that time getting an average of 8 MPG (below the forum average). With a total of repairs during the whole time of ownership around $2,300 (fuel pump, exhaust manifold studs, transmission front seal, plugs coils and boots and an ABS sensor).

Thanks, are you planning to regear it? If so, you will really like the throttle response then!
What are the plans for it? How heavy is the camping trailer?

Not sure on the re-gear, but I would love a better throttle response.
Initially I’ll be draining/flushing and replacing filters until all of the 150k maintenance is complete. After that I plan on towing a small travel trailer <7k lbs. It’s big enough to throw a mattress in the back and camp that way. If $$$ was no object, I’d do a leaf swap to level out and go 33/34’s. Figure headers, tune, and in dash stereo and back up camera.
Reliability means the most to me as we will travel long drives in it. I’ve read the forums...but what do you all prefer for oil ? I’m considering going to 5w-30 High Mileage. Also I’m gonna buy all the fluids that need change so if there any proven lubricants you all prefer over off the shelf etc please let me know!

AH, you needed to have the Atlas40 FICM tune. Ford tuned the 6L to avoid "black smoke" and as a result the off-the-line acceleration was awful.
My 6L Excursion was a dog off the line (to the point I couldn't pull out in to traffic, if I mashed the pedal it would hardly move).
After the Atlas40 FICM tune, I can chirp the tires from a stop and on the 1-2 up shift.
The V10 in my F350 is NO WHERE close to my 6L Excursion in acceleration.
Of course, "some" gas engines also have 4:10 or 4:30 gears which WOULD sure help them vs the 3:73 standard ratio.
