DPF % does not like sub freezing temps.

Swearing off even looking at it when its below 32F. Every time it gets cold, the DPF screen doesn't move at all. Its nice to have so I know when a regen is close but just doesn't function in the cold temps.

its not accurate for telling regen status.
In cold weather it doesn't accumulate as much soot/% - regens occur every 497 miles even if the percentage of filter full doesn't reach 100%.

I have had it stuck at 25% for several days. Then it finally does a regen at the 500 mile fall back. In cold weather, it doesnt work for squat.

Why do you think it is not working? As was said above, in the cold temps it does not build as fast, if at all. Enjoy the better mileage, and longer distances between regens. Since mid-december, I have been seeing the regens hit at about 30%, when the 500 mile limit is reached. It builds slowly while driving in town, but yesterday I did nearly 200 miles on the highway, and it started at 30, and went up to 32, then came back down to 30, and bounced back and forth a few time (As read by my Edge Insight).

Harmanrk, I'm considering purchasing the Edge. Is it worth it? FWIW, I have the same experience with the DPF reading in cold weather...

I have the same experience also. It did a complete regen on Christmas day, on the drive out to my sister's place - all the way from 85% down to 0%. I bought a phone mount and started monitoring with FORScan Lite a day or two later. Since then I have watched two regens, at 22%/497 miles and 28%/505 miles according to FORScan. The indicator on the dashboard hasn't moved off 0% since Christmas. We got up into the 40s and 50s for a few days earlier this week, and I thought maybe it would move - but no dice. It's at 18% in FORScan, but still 0% on the dash.

mine was stuck at 65% (on the dash) - and forscan lite showed a significantly lower % filter full (30 or 35% iirc).....i thought mine was "stuck" or that i had a bad sensor....until i saw forscan lite monitor report Regen status ACTIVATED.

my dash display can be 15 -25 % generous (compared to what forescan lite reports) until about the 50% mark when it starts to "catch up".

Im learning that the dash display is near worthless.

It average -20 or colder out here all winter long and only issue is sensors failing and DEF freezing up the odd time when the heater in the tank is not putting out.

It hit -43 last 4 days here.

IMO ford really screwed us by FORCING a Regen strategy every 500 miles even when the filter doesn't need it. I have friends w/ large motorcoaches that haven't done a Regen in 6k miles.

I like it, it lets me see the EGT's, just past the turbo, and all they way past the DPF. Seeing just how hot it gets (1150 at sensor 1, 1250 at sensor 3) Also lets me see Coolant, Oil and transmission temps in one spot, which the truck built in systems will not.

I have noticed a few of the readings seem to be slightly different from the built in, it is not uncommon to see 2 or 3 degrees difference on oil and trans temps. What it pulls for instantaneous mileage seems to be unbelievable high, and some of the PIDs are not always active (Throttle position, HP, and Torque values are not active with cruse control set, only when you are actively 'working the throttle')

For us cold climate guys, could a higher percentage of #1 diesel in the Winter blend, have something to do with less soot, thereby less regens?

All I know is my exhaust stinks when the truck it up to temp since its gotten cold out. In warm weather, with Summer #2 diesel, it never smells.

My truck *has* performed a full regen during -10F temps. It can do it. I have not noticed an exhaust smell, just a drastic drop off in fuel economy, running primarily #1 diesel...which is basically just kerosene.

I don't know about the smell or the fuel type but i doesn't matter what the fuel or temp is - its gonna regen every 500 miles, needed or not.

I've seen regen occurs w/ as little as 23% filter full...BECAUSE i reached 500 miles...and I've seen it occur as low as 2* (f)

My experience exactly, only my last regen was at -2*F

ON a recent 1400 mile (one way / non stop) drive i had a chance to monitor and observe regen's - using ForScan Lite - i learned that 1) the dash "percentage filter full" is not accurate & 2) no indication of when a Regen may occur.
