Can anyone tell me what these plug into? This one is by the firewall passenger side below the MAP sensor
This one is right next to the battery

Not sure about the first one but the second pic looks like an O2 sensor connector. Does your truck have an O2 in the exhaust and is it plugged in?

I'd be curious what an O2 sensor is doing next to the battery.

I have an o2 sensor in the exhaust before the cat. No codes for one either just code 41 which is system lean. Trying to figure out if one of these is the problem. Had my oil pan gasket and rear main seal replaced so my guy took the engine out and saw these unplugged when I got home after getting the trouble code

It looks like they might go to each other. One's male, the other is female. They both look like two wire connectors. See if they stretch to each other.

They certainly don't look like they've been handled that much.
Is it possible that they weren't being used to begin with? Maybe there for a different engine.
This is your 5.0 correct? I can head out to the back garage and take some pics of my 91 if you'd like.

The sensor doesn't go there obviously but on some trucks the wiring for it is routed up to that point and on across the top of the rad to the PCM on the other side.

I will try to pull it and see if it fits. I ran the vin and it comes up 5.0. Sorry for the late reply gents, I was in the mountains. I only get a lean code for now but that's because of a cracked manifold. I don't think there's anything affected by these connectors but I would rather get everything done that needs it

can you check your truck and see of you have this connector? If your truck is like mine it will be right after the map sensor connector

awesome thank you. I'm using my Taurus for now because I think the first connector is to something important. Ever since I got my truck back it's been having a misfire type scenario and loss of power. I think this connector goes to something after checking some wiring diagrams. The connector by the battery is a non-used spare connector. The back one I can't seem to find on a diagram unless it's a 02 sensor or knock sensor but I believe both are connected, the 02 sensor is connected by the pipe so that rules that put

On a 5.0L the connector by the battery is used and it is for the O2 sensor.
It is C1003.

wtf.....so I take it my truck isn't running lean, the 02 sensor isn't plugged in......? I know code 41 is for system lean or no 02 sensor detected......

Omg I guess the 02 sensor connector was wrapped up under the throttle body when they pulled the engine. Got it connected now to figure out what this one is.

Update. I plugged the o2 sensor in and no codes after getting home 15 miles away from work, normally it's illuminated halfway home or to work. I can't believe that's all it was for the check engine light and my performance. And I'll wait to hear back from insideman about the other connector near the firewall. You guys are awesome
