5.0 to 5.4 swap

I'm going to swap the 5.0 out of my 1995 f150 to a 2002 5.4. Has anyone ever done this? I'm having trouble inventing motor mounts for it so if anyone has ever done this before I'd really like to talk about it

Whet is your reason for doing this swap? A built 351W would get you some good power. The 392 moves my Bronco along pretty good. Personally, I don’t like the modular motors in a truck. The power band is too high up. From what I have seen posted from others, the mounts are the least of your worries. I guess the wiring is the bigger problem.

I have to agree with the wiring comment. I had a 2010 with a 5.4 in it. I loved the truck for the first few years but as soon as I hit 100k. I started dealing with major computer/electrical issues. The guy at my local dealership mentioned that my truck wasn't the first one he had seen with the exact same problems. The main issue was every warning light on the dash would randomly turn on while driving. It didn't cause any issues with drivability it was just super annoying. Also every time I took it in the tech couldn't "re-create the problem" so they couldn't fix it. My solution was to sell it to Carmax and go backwards to my 1993 F150. Couldn't be happier since I can now trouble shoot and work on it myself.

My reason for doing this because I blew up my 5.0 and I got a Triton motor for almost nothing and I already cut the motor mount brackets off to make it fit in there and the wiring doesn't seem to be issue for me because I plan to make it carbonated.

You mean carburated. Have you looked for a carb intake for a 5.4?

Auto correct messed that up. Jegs gave me a part number for a carburated intake but I haven't looked at it or anything. I'm sure someone makes one

As far as I know there are no carb intakes for the 5.4.

Well, you'll need a manifold, $400 or so. Carb, another $400. And, you will need a stand-alone controller for the ignition, $900 or so. Also, you will need a transmission controller $800 and up if you stay with an automatic trans.

Yeah, motor mounts are the least of your worries. Did you check out how your right valve cover and the heater box both need the same space?

Get a new set of SBF perches from the JY and then put a 351 in it. Save yourself a huge hassle, since if you're asking how to make motor perches, I can only guess you don't have the mad skills to deal with intensive conversion wiring and troubleshooting issues relating to making all these new controllers work together.

Sorry to sound critical but I hate to see another OBS truck go to the scrappers after a failed swap.

does the intake off the dohc 5.4 match up to my ttiton? If so, they make a carburated intake for that

No, it does not match up.

You can, however bust out another $311 + shipping for a set of adaptor plates to run a 4.6 2V carb conversion manifold on your 5.4 2V engine.

Man, that swap is getting even more costly by the minute.

I started this project last year and I wish I didn't. I'd like to put the 302 back in it but I already cut off the brackets that hold the motor mounts on and not only was that a stupid move but I also threw them away and I'm sure they don't sell them anywhere or I'd weld them back on. What should I do now?

These guys have been making modular carb intakes since Ford introduced modulars:

Sullivan Performance Products

Sticker shock ain't the word for it.
