I have an 89 Ford F600 with a diesel engine. There is a computer module under the dash that beeps. If I unplug it, it kills the engine. I don't know what it is alerting me to, and I don't know how to make it stop. Any help would be appreciated.

 

any dash lights? a picture of the module in question will save a lot of questions here.

 

does it have airbags? Although why an airbag module would kill the engine, I don't know. But an airbag light being out will make the air bag module beep in at least the SuperDuty.

 

Check the level of your engine coolant. If not that, maybe it's a similar warning of maintenance needed?

 

Mine (Cummins powered)had sensors for

Low Coolant
Brake warning (this one regularly came on during start up)..would kill engine if I moved lever out of park (allison)
E brake on
Seat belts (wouldn't kill engine)
Low oil-would kill engine
PTO engaged

Theres others.. find buzzer ..trace wires.. get electrical diagram

internet search reveals you can buy the manual off of ebay
