I'm looking at ads on Craigslist for an old Ford, my ranger seems to get smaller everyday so I'm looking for a full-size, flatbed, dually. I found two I like, one of them is a 71 and the other is a 78. I was hoping to get advice on which one seems like a better option, what questions to ask, and what to look out for.
I posted this in the dent side section as well, I hope that's not a problem.
They are both great. Some consideration would have to go to drive train. If the 78 was a 460, I'd lean that direction. Downside is 78 has a lot more plastic and the cabs just have a generally more "tinny" feel than the bumpside.
To form an opinion I'd need more info on both of the choices. Both could have their own strong points. And/or just the opposite. Engine, tranny, A/C, options, condition in and out, disc brakes or not up front, etc.
While I like the styling of the bumpsides better than the dentsides, the dentside is more likely to already front disk brakes and a/c if those options matter to you.
