Waste gate delete
I had my truck worked on bout 4 years ago when the turbo grenaded it sounded like glass going through the tailpipe. So I had a friend of mine install the turbo he's done his a couple times on both his trucks and he talks me into deleting the wastegate he cut out. Since then I had a good friend of mine that's a real good diesel mechanic working on my truck and he end up having my truck like eight months was this dragging me along really wasn't doing anything to my truck come to find out I paid for him to put new harnesses in my truck what he didn't do. He just threw used harnesses in there because he was just tired of hearing me bitching complain cuz he had my truck for like 7 months. So I get it back and check engine light still on it's not running much better than it was. I found out that he installed used harnesses. When I had him do another scan on it and it said number 6 was low or bad so I had to change number 6 that's the third time number 6 came out bad. I was going to do myself cuz I don't want him to touch it again. So I pretty much just pulled into his yard and start working on it whether we like it or not. I pulled off the valve cover 2 pull number 6. Lo and behold there's the harness looks very old it was a Dorman harness and all the zip ties were brittle and broken in the number 6 injector wire had three cracks in The Wire. So is this what you call new harnesses with not even 20,000 miles on the harnesses. He jumps on the phone and it's right on the phone calling the parts store to prove to me that he bought them. He buys lots of parts he cant prove it all he was doing is blowing smoke up my ***. I'm not that naive. Anyways sorry install the number 6 injector which it didn't need to be done because it was the freaking faulty harnesses and there's a short somewhere in my computer I found that out just recently here. Since then I had my oil cooler fail. He never got the check engine light to go out. Check engine light went out as soon as I put the harnesses in. there still amiss and it was still a code saying number 6 was a low pressure low lure something or there was a short somewhere. Okay so like I said the oil cooler just went out recently I just got done fixing that and decided to find out where the oil leak was coming from up on top of the engine to find out it was the for the turbo. I also noticed the downpipes where leaking. So I decided that I was going to fix all these leaks. So I tore down your exhaust manifolds and every bolts on the manifolds are loose and leaking. So the leak was huge removed up pipes took out the turbo. So now I've got the manifold back on with the Fel Fel Pro gaskets new stainless steel bolts. I got the the bellowed up pipes from I forget where the jobs in the Bay Area for 49 bucks with the O-rings for the pedestal and the Turbo well and all the hardware and gaskets for 49 bucks. I've been looking for a month 4 up pipes. Couldn't find them cheaper than a 250. Oh when I seen them for $49 I didn't hesitate I got them on eBay. So since I've done the oil cooler rebuild I feel pretty confident I can do anything on this truck which feels a pretty good. So now I've got the turbo and exhaust system all torn apart and I have a question about the wastegate that was deleted should I reinstall a housing with the wastegate or leave it as is. If someone else here has done that wastegate delete can you tell me why and what your experience is with it deleted.
