2012 Explorer brake noise
A few weeks ago, a moaning/humming noise started to develop when braking. The noise was barely noticeable when cold, but got progressively worse the more they were used. At first, the noise had a tempo that slowed down as your speed decreased. There was no wheel wobble, the car didn't pull to the side under braking, and there was no brake squeal. The car felt fine, other than the moaning noise.
I changed the brake pads, and that seemed to stop the noise for a while. Gradually, the noise got louder and constant under braking (no tempo). All I can think of is that the rotors need cleaning or be replaced. I know they can start squealing when the rotors get filmed up, but I haven't run into anything like this.
Any ideas are appreciated.
