Do all expeditions have luggage racks
I was looking at renting a 12 passenger transit for an upcoming vacation, but those things are ridiculously expensive. So for about half the cost, I can rent an expedition. My problem is luggage for 7 people. Thinking about buying a cargo basket for the roof. I could still use it in my wifes escape afterwards. My question is, are the luggage racks with cross bars standard on expeditions? Would hate to get to the rental place the evening before we leave and it not have one.

We had an expedition EL for a long time, once my seventh son was born we traded it in on a 12 passenger transit. If you really want to use the expedition I suggest a cargo rack that goes in the trailer hitch if you really want to use the expedition I suggest a cargo rack that goes in the trailer hitch. We use one of those with big plastic storage containers specifically selected based on how they fit in the cargo rack. I would pack our stuff in those containers then stack and ratchet strap all of them to the cargo rack. However, if you can swing the cost the transit makes life so much easier

We are going on a cruise, so everything will have to be in suit cases, not totes. We will stay in a hotel the night before, so everyone will have a change of clothes in their carry on, and I would like to keep these in the back hatch. Can you still get the hatch open with one of those in the hitch? Is a hitch standard on an excursion? If not, I highly doubt the rental place sprung for the tow package.

Every expedition I’ve seen comes with a trailer hitch, even the rentals. Depending on the size of your suitcases you may be able to stack them on the cargo rack and just strap them down. And to answer your question, no you won’t be able to open the liftgate with the cargo rack in place. On a different know how do you like the 6.2 in your F250? I am considering buying a prior rental F250 with a 6.2.

Has anyone seen a box that will fit behind the third row seating in a standard Expedition? The available space with the seat up is actually very small due to the slant of the tailgate and seat backs. I'd like to have something to put loose things into; trailer hitch, fire extinguisher, etc so they don't go fly around the cabin in an accident.
Any idea's, thanks
