I just purchased a brand new 2018 f250 SD and it didn't come with the Box link mounting base. I bought them separately and I notice the holes are not threaded. Are the screws that came in with the base self tapping?
Ford uses a lot of thread forming (rolling) fasteners, Taptite is a major supplier. Especially in the body structures. The screws will have a trilobular shape to them. Quick way to discern if they are self tapping. If so then you just need to drive them into the adjoining structure.

Where did you get the mounting plates? I can find the cleats on Ebay no problem, but been unable to find a source for the plates (other than stealership).

The base is an actual OEM. You can either get them in any ford dealership or search amazon
Anyone know the thread size and pitch of the screws supplied with the plate kit? FL3Z-9928408-AB
