I have an 04 F250 with the bulletproofed 6.0
truck has lots of power and runs great most the time but from time to time my IPW drops dramatically (especially when pulling a load) and the truck dies half the time most the time starts right back up and drives fine for a little while then does it again any thoughts are helpful and apprectiated
Yes the pulse width drops to about .5 when its normally running about 1.0 today I drove the truck for about 3 hours before I had a problem for the first time without my trailer behind me. I have only owned the truck for about a month and must admit that it is my first diesel. I approached a shop about it and they replaced the fuel pump and two injectors for 2k. Still didnt fix the problem Ive had another shop tell me i have a bad ficm which is runing a pretty consistant 54 volts and from what ive read the co,puter almost never goes bad in them more commonly its the power supply. The shop i paid 2k too said my ficm was fine. I feel like im getting some kind of blockage in my fuel system (maybe filters?) just very ignorant when it comes to deisels but know enough about mechanics to at least try some routine tune ups before i drop any more money unnecessarily
I would at the very least, replace both fuel filters and do the blue spring update to the upper fuel bowl, then find out what the fuel pressure it at.....lot's of vids on how to.
You may have a fuel delivery issue, and a 6.0 will eat injectors if you keep running with low fuel pressure.
Sounds like the first shop just threw some parts at it, if they know a 6.0 they would have known to check the pressure at the upper bowl.
