4.0 explorer.
I bought a 02 explorer with sounded like chattering valves. When it got really cold went to start an sounded louder then got super loud but misses does crank an run just not strong sounds like its coming from water pump area. TIA

If it is a SOHC motor, stop running it. You may be able to fix the guides and tensioners and replace the chains and sprockets for the cam drives. If they fail, the engine is junk.
