My speedometer stopped on my 90 f150 with a bw1345 and discovered both the drive and driven gears are worn out. The drive is green and I count 6 teeth while the driven is yellow and 18 teeth. I cannot seem to locate the green drive gear. It’s pressed on a shaft 1.638” diameter. Anyone know of a source?
Are you speaking of the drive gear that is one piece on a steel collar that slides onto the output shaft? Not the type that has an internal key drive slot?
It sound like you have the one I had, if it is, its no longer available. I found a different color one from a dealer in Georga, you might find another around the country. You might ask NumberDummy, as he can get part numbers and can sometimes let you know where to find parts. If you can get one with plus or minus a tooth you can do the math or check one of the speedo charts in a parts magazine. I found a chart in a NPD mustang catalog. I purchased the applicable one for the drive gear I got and it turned out perfect. Right on the money with my gps unit. I also turned in my old one to Jeffs Bronco Graveyard. I let them know that it was no longer being made and out of the system and that it fit that transfer case. Still lots of them out there. They did say that they look at producing parts out of production and for 4x4's. That was about 9 months ago. Good luck
That sounds like the same type I had. I spent the good part of a morning on the phone till I found one and ordered it, Again it had 7 or 8 teeth rather than the 6. Then I used the NPD mustang catalog to plug my axle ratio and tire size, (revs per mile) into the formula and got a driven gear that put me perfectly correct on my speedo. I found no other way to repair or replace the original drive gear. I even contacted a well known speedometer service co. with no luck. I wish you luck if you choose to find an original. I'm in Mi. and the closest one I could get was in GA. and that was one with more teeth. Never did find one that matched original. But, maybe there is one in a dealer ship out west.
