To the right guy badly needing or wanting a mint chrome one, I'd guess $300 to $500?? I am guessing on that price, but I know of people looking and asking for them. You just can not find them or go out and buy them any more.
So I personally would not cut up the chrome one, you should be able to sell it on FTE classifieds. Shipping is going to be $$, so check out Greyhound Bus freight package service.

Would be considered a pretty clean body in this area - we don't get rust, but they've all been cowboy'd pretty hard by this age - especially the 250 4x4's. If it were mine, it'd get the cab stuck back together and driven, fix as needed.

was kinda the plan and your right about not much rust here. I live in north western nv so we don't get much rust. This thing has been sitting for 15 years and just trying to get it back on the road. Going to drive it and fix what needs to be fixed as I go.

Well got the old truck fired up on sunday, Made sure we had oil pressure first and just poured some gas in the carb because I know it needs a rebuild but im waiting on my kit to come in. Sounds pretty good doesn't shake or miss so im happy with that.

I'm in N Michigan. It's January. I have a pretty good idea of what the weather is going to do. None of it is conducive to working on a truck outside.
IC that you have Chevy ignition. Good thing you are a Chevy guy.
Obviously this truck was previously owned by yet another guy that became frustrated enough with the vaunted dura-spark ignition, to just pitch it.

actually i put the hei ignition in because every single thing I tested on the dura spark according to the book was toasted. so I figured the gm is way easier and cheaper then replacing all the other components plus I like the fact that its all self contained.

Anyone know where I can get the vent valve seal on top of the rear tank? Mine is cracked and if I can get one local from a parts store I will, other wise im going to seal it with a gasket material to make sure it doesn't leak.

This seal was not furnished with the vapor valve, t'was only furnished by itself. A used seal will be shriveled and/or cracked and/or shrunk, so it won't be any good.
This seal is probably available from NAPA, but if not...
