On my "89" f250, I replaced the clutch and noticed that the plastic or nylon bushing on the large pivot bolt on the base of the shift lever was shot and hardly any of it was left. I have had no luck finding a source, has anybody else found them?
Maybe I can't find them because I am not calling it by the correct name.
There's an article somewhere, maybe on here, on rebuilding/replacing the t-case shifter, and they said that one of the bushings in the "Help!" chain-store pack will work.
No, McLeod, that's not the one. I found those on BGY, I went looking there first because I'm not too far from them. I need the one that is on the large pivot bolt on the bottom of the handle. The head of the bolt is like 1.125" hex head, with a step diameter of like 3/4". It looks like it would have a lip on one end also and a spiral split in it. That is just a guess from what was left of the old one.
DrCharles, I looked at the carded help section in my local AP store and did not see one.
I think you need a E3TZ-7335-A, but I am not sure. That pulls up as the right part on Ford Parts, and according to RearCounter.com a few folks have some laying around.
On post #7 I linked to a guy who had used the EOTZ bushings in his 96 F-150, but after looking at his profile he is converting his truck from 2wd to 4wd.
What the conversion parts came off of is an unknown to us and may explain the discrepancy....???
