Trailer tow camera/TPMS package install

For anyone that got this package with there truck. The new rear bumper replacements plug worked great, very easy install. Camera worked as expected.

Problem is with the TPMS sensors that install in your trailer tires. Per the instructions the sensors in the kit are for a .452” or small hole rims. When I attempted to have these installed last night in my 5th wheel rims. To my surprise, the valve stem hole in my 16” 8 lug aluminum rims are roughly .625” or called large hole by the tire guys. The design of the ford sensors valve stem include a notch at the base of the stem. Meaning the needed larger rubber spacer will not work with these sensors. Tire guys said it would leak because of the notch at the base of the sensors stem. I’ll include a pic. If anyone knows of a remedy for this fit problem, please let me know. Trailer tires require 110 psi. On the right is a standard replacement that fits the trailer wheel using the rubber spacer.

Will 0.453" (not 0.452") stem hole work?

Hi all,

I am about to purchase TPMS kit for my 2017 F350 Ultra tow equipped to monitor my 5th wheel Jayco, but am holding off for now. The trailer wheels (16" Tredit Y316200 wheels for 2018 Jayco Eagle HT) uses .453" stem hole which is 0.001" larger than Ford specifications in the kit.

Will that fit? Tredit can't confirm. Does it have to be exactly .452" stem size?

Yes, that will work. Tolerances aren't that close on valve stems.

Awesome. About to buy from this website for $406 for TPMS only kit for 2017+ SuperDuty. Maybe you have a better price elsewhere?

Is the TPMS / Trailer Tow camera a dealer installable item?
I am buying a used 2017 F450 that has the 7 camera system. does not have the Trailer tow camera. I'd like to add the camera. Can this be accomplished?

Yes, they trailer camera can be purchased separate and installed.
Take your trailer to any tire shop to install the sensors and you or dealer can replace the new plug in bumper as you mentioned that truck have the seven camera system/360 cameras

Yes, it was included on the window sticker for my truck. I had to ask for it after signing the paperwork. They gave me a box that had all the parts, like a kit. The bumper plug is simple, you will find the new plug underneath the rear bumper. I lower the spare to get to it easily. It’s all plug and play. Working on getting the correct Tp sensors stem diameters. Hope you have the small holes in your trailer wheels. There are instructions in the box that explains everything.

Please confirm...the truck does not have TPMS but the trailer TPMS will work? If so, I'm wondering if there is a way to get the TPMS for the truck tires to function...assuming compatible sensors for the truck wheels can be sourced.

I don't get your question. I thought all trucks have TPMS.
The trailer TPMS are separate than the truck, that's why the kit come with a module for the trailer, I think to separate the trailer from the truck
