i'm going to be rebuilding my 302 soon and wanted to know the max compression ratio i should go with if i want to add a holley 174 powercharger in the future... the 331 kits are usually in the 9.3:1 range and 347 kits are 10.3:1 on 62cc heads, what is the best course? i'm thinking a 331 kit is safer (and not to mention slightly cheaper). my truck is a daily driver so I'm trying to keep reliability in mind, but everytime i do, i hear that supercharger whine in the back of my head

I think what you want to know is how much compression should you run. you can bore and stroke your motor to whatever makes you happy however you would need to select pistons that put your compression in the 8-9:1 range as far as street low boost (9:1 down) if you want high boost then shoot for 8:1 +/- a little. High compression and boost = detonation unless alcohol was in the budget. Good luck, you get it together and you should be able to have some fun
