Before I buy a new compressor

Before I buy a new compressor

I just want to be sure that mine is bad. The navigator is an 03 and I tested the connection going to the compressor with a volt meter. I am getting 13 volts up to the connector leading to the compressor and no voltage on any of the wires on the wires after the connector going to the compressor. Does this confirm that the compressor is done?

If you have tested the compressor directly with the test wiring and fuse between - yes, it's dead. There is still a small possibility that there is a sort of electric problem in the chain if you haven't measured the power directly at the compressor connector. If you have voltage on one side of the connector but not on the other it sounds like a bad connection in the connector. I would disconnect the plug and put power directly to the compressor.

With the connector still plugged into the compressor you should have 12v or more at the connector when the system is on. If you do it's a bad clutch coil, if you do not there is a problem elsewhere. If you're knowledgeable and have an average set of tools, it is possible to change just the coil instead of the whole compressor.

But shouldnt the voltage travel all the way to the compressor even if it is bad instead of stopping at the connector?

i spliced the wire after the connector and put 12 volts to it. All i get is a clicking noise

Just for my own understanding, are you talking about the AIR compressor or the A/C compressor?

and you shouldn't have assumed that. What is more prone to failure on these vehicles? An air suspension compressor or the a/c compressor. Thanks for your input

Neither. The air suspension compressor fault is usually the MOSFET relay. (Bring money. )

Got a new air suspension compressor today and its doing the same thing .. 12+ volts coming out of the connector and only 0.05 volts from the connector to the compressor.
