Hi guys, I usually hang out on the 7.3 forum but my BIL just bought a E-450 motorhome with a 6.0. The chassis is a 2008. I was wondering if it has the cartridge filter for the tranny like the pickups. Also I was surprised to learn it is intercooled as I always thought the van chassis were not and therefore had bigger turbos.
He has some rust on the tranny dipstick and inside the tube due to condensation but the van sat for a while, it only has 16K on it. He noticed condensation on the stick for the first thousand or so miles but it's now gone, thinking it finally burned off. Runs and shifts like new.
Yes its possible depending on the build date. They were deleted for 2008 for pickups but the E series used carry over 2007 engines for 2008 and 2009.
I don't remember exactly where it was on the pickups and I peeked under/behind the pass side front bumper where I thought it should be but didn't see anything. I'll have to slide under there I guess.

Rock Auto shows the TP style for an 08 E450......that said it does not mean there is one there depending on the chassis set up I suppose.
You might have do get dirty and do some looking.
Take a look at the trans pan -- my buddy just sold his '08 E450 based RV (but with the V10), and it had the updated trans pan and no external filter. If your BIL has the new pan he can forget about the external filter even if it did have one...
