I am looking at buying a 2012 F250 6.2 gas, I have hearing mixed reviews on that motor.
I am looking for honest reviews of any problems with the motor and truck

There’s a bunch of threads on this in this section. There’s also a separate 6.2 section that may have more. Bottom line is that they are good snd reliable.
Most people that give the 6.2 a bad review are former diesel owners that have a hard time adjusting to a high revving gas engine that's going to have to turn some RPMs when towing. It can be a difficult adjustment, especially if all you've ever towed with is diesel. A couple issues the 6.2 have seen is clogged catalytic converters from not changing spark plugs when due or very high idle hours. And there was a small batch built with defective baffles in the valve cover causing oil consumption. There was s TSB for this and it is a simple valve cover swap. That 2012 should not fall under this. Over all, it's a very reliable, strong motor. We have a member that put 418k on his before he wore out a camshaft. This was in a hard working hot shot application.
well,, that is the internet... trashing a proven "GOOD" product..
many 6.2L have gone past 300,000 miles...
research e-bay fleet 6.2L trucks.. many over 300,000 miles
Do Real research... talk to fleet managers... small companies managers. professional independent mechanics
the 6.2L has the best record.. F 250/350 with almost indestructible transmissions and final drives..
Read my Screen Name... retired auto mechanic.. NOT FORD.
yes, mine is a used Fleet/lease service truck... 156,000 miles.. no issues.. over 2 years.
I carry and tow HEAVY... 2,000 miles at a time.
MY Opinion, based on my 6 month research 2 years ago.
Check out the 6.2 section. They are rock solid motors. When I bought my 16 I had my 6.2 and an identical 6.7 side by side. Without factoring in money I thought long and hard about which truck would get me to 300k with the fewest problems and headaches. The 6.2 is what I went with and if I had to I would make the same decision today.
I have a 2012 6.2. I broke a valve spring at 42K. I know they are great engines and mine was an anomaly. I have 78K on it now with no regrets. If it got wadded up in a ball tomorrow I would buy another one.
I only have 70,000 miles on my 2012 F 350, no issues, love the truck, when I have to pull a 10,500 pound oversize trailer up and down the east coast, it does just fine !
I have two 2011 6.2 Trucks and F250 and a F350 one has 267k on it and the other truck has 347k on it and I have had no major issues with my trucks, everything has been mostly ware items ( brakes, tires, battery etc) biggest thing I can tell you is maintenance, maintenance, maintenance kepp on top of it do your oil changes regularly, keep up on fluids etc
Service the things that need to be done when they need to be done, dont leave them until they become a problem, do them before they become a problem
other than that, the trucks have been good the engines have been great, lots of power to pull with, with some tuning it is even better with the shift points and what not.
Trust me the 6.2 engine has been a dead on work horse for me, and I have no qualms about using the truck to pull or go a long ways at all.
