I just got done doing Bulletproof egr cooler, Ford Oil cooler, stc fitting, dummy plugs, and stand pipes on my 2006 F350. Thanks for all the help here on that! I made a mistake when I ordered my oil and got the Schaeffer's 10w30 that is SN API service rating instead of the diesel rated oil. When I start it up after it has been sitting for a bit it takes quite a while of cranking to build IPR pressure but once I do it starts right up. I haven't ran it a lot so I'm wondering if it also could just be air in the oil system. Would this be do to running the SN grade oil? I've got Schaeffer's 5w40 on the way and just gonna count it as a expensive mistake and drain the oil out when it gets here.
I am not an oil expert at all but I think you are probably right about the some lingering air in the system. I definitely agree with an oil change as soon as possible. I think what would happen is the 10W-30 would eventually sheer down the 10w-40 which would be closer to what you want. Oil is much cheaper than injectors though.
