Sunday greetings norcal ch. members. partly sunny / partly cloudy? here today with a high near 65. finished up the work on snow white and she fired right up on second turn of the key. just a few hiccups in the idle and otherwise purred like a kitten.. will maybe test drive down the roads today.
No wind yesterday yet fuel moisture fairly dry so I finally burned my pine needle piles. Storm supposedly coming in Thursday and Friday with lowering snow levels. Dang I hope so. I really don't want to descend back into a drought pattern. We need a several consecutive year precipitation recovery to get things back on track in this state.
I just looked at the weather app on my phone and it looks like the prediction may be pulling back some. At least on the Eastern side of the Sierras. I hope my app is wrong. Gonna watch the local news tonight and see if the local forecast has changed or not. I'll be very disappointed if the storm petered out.
So the big news is that I've received the crimping tool and the crimp-on pins needed to repair the connectors for the door courtesy light switches.
The bad news is that I've lost the key ring for the truck.
Still haven't found the keys, may not get them back *grumble* I was able to get into the truck and recover a spare ignition/door key. I pried open the sliding glass in the rear window... don't think it had been opened in thirty years... was moss growing in the window track. Then I hired one of the neighborhood kids to climb in and unlock the doors for me. Paid him with a bar of chocolate.
Practiced with the crimping tool today, got the right crimp settings on the first guess for each of the two crimps needed for each pin. Don't need to strip away as much insulation as I had originally guessed. Checked the fitting between the male pin and the female pin that's installed in the door switch, should be a good fit. I'll see if I can get that job done in the morning, before the rains show up.
One of the things that I learned a few months back is to not install the door switch, then close the door without also installing the connector that mates to it. The switch will come apart and some of the switch parts will fall into the fender well. I couldn't get them all back, and it ruined a new switch.

Hard lessons are lessons truly learned. If you're paying attention that is...
