I would like to buy a headache rack with lights for my 2017 F-350 XL regular cab. I would be interested to know if anybody has such a setup that they are happy with. I don't want to pull the trigger on something online that I will be disappointed in. I was looking at Backrack brand on Amazon, but I want to be sure to get the correct installation kit, and good quality lights, that fit..Thanks and Happy New Year!
Yup, grab a Magnum. They're 100% aluminum and even the stake pocket mounts are aluminum, so no crossing of metals. They come with lights and you can also work with their design department to come up with something custom suited to you. Here are some pictures of the racks (both on my old '06 and my '17) Attachment 254258 Attachment 254256 Attachment 254257.

I picked up the wiring harness you suggested and after talking to Nick for a while. I have it sitting on the bench. was going to install it, but started thinking that it would not solve my deck lighting issue. before I hacked the end of it off in order to splice a 5 way flat adapter to it, I thought I should ask more questions.
I found an adapter that solved the hyperflash turn signal when my deck is plugged in. But the truck still thinks there is a trailer plugged in and always reverts to the towing screen upon start up.
Does your truck still think there is a trailer plugged in when the headache rack lighting is plugged in?

Once I installed the new harness, no more phantom trailer. Truck does not think there is a trailer connected. This is because the truck looks at the harness going to the 7-way/4-way plug and if it sees current being drawn, it assumes a trailer. The Magnum harness has those two giant flat connectors and it plugs in line with the tail light harness, which is located up inside the trailer hitch. This has nothing to do with the truck's trailer wiring, so it has no idea that there is a minor amount of additional current being pulled through. The hyper flash issue is independent of the trailer issue - though it's interesting because I noticed that when I had the old harness plugged in line with the 7-way, but disconnected it at the rack end I got a hyper flash. Bottom line - I would feel good about the harness solving your problem, it is no different than splicing into the tail light, except that you aren't cutting anything. I'll be happy to provide any additional info or help!

I put a magnum rack on my 2017 recently. Purchased it in Novemeber. They told me they had a new wiring harness being developed that would solve the false trailer hook up reading problem (which in turn de-activates your back-up sensors). They said they would ship the new harness out to customers that had the old one. I haven't received mine yet so I cannot comment on the result.
Solid rack but mine has a little play in it where it mounts to the bed rails. Just might have to re-tighten the mounting bolts a little I suppose.
That looks good! I’m gonna do the exact same thing if my truck ever shows up. A couple of questions..... Does that weatherguard have the textured finish or is it just the black powder coat? I’m thinking about getting a textured one but am wondering how the coating holds up. Did you use the headache rack’s stake pocket clamp for the front tool box bolt? For the rear toolbox bolt did you drill the bed rail or just use a j-clamp doo-dad?

I bought the weather guard 12 years ago used, is has a black smooth finish. The kid told me he was not going to have to drill any holes...They put a strobe in the center, and a round L.E.D. on each side using a bolt in the groove of the Magnum, without having to sell me the brackets. They also wired them into the uplifter switches for me. I am happy with the installation.
