HVAC question

Used the RECIRC(?) button for the first time this morning, its the top right hand button in the cluster. When pushed, it sounds like an additional fan is engaging, is this so? In the olden days it only closed a door to the outside. Does anybody know for sure how it all works? I'm sure the OM would tell me but I really like to type with two fingers.

When selecting recirculate, the hvac is drawing in air from the cabin (interior) instead outside the cabin (exterior), and from this you hear the blower fan more clearly.

If that is the case...it sounds like turbo mode when the button is pushed! Does yours make this sound? I don't think its a "more clearly" sound.

This may be a default setting to increase fan speed because many people will use the recirculate to cool the cabin quicker in the summer?
