Weird noise

this is probably a normal thing but I just need some reassueance from the boys!!! I was towing my Toy hauler loaded down approx 12,000 lbs. While pulling over some mountains with the O/D off I would hea a strange cycling sound. It would sound like a blower then it would stop and come back. No loss in power no changes in the gauges. I am not really concerned but just curios to know what it is. My truck pulled just fine. I did have to down shift to 2nd one time because the tranny got up to 200*. Any way any one know what the blower sound cycling on and off is?

mine does the same thing, i always figured it was the fan clutch(radiator fan) engaging and disengaging when the truck would get warm and then cool down

Thats what it sounds like to me too. But I did not know that there was a clutch on the fan for these trucks. Thanks for the help.

I can't say that I've heard the nosie (straight piped exhaust) but it sure sounds like the fan kicking on and off. That would be my guess.
