Back in June at around 14,000 miles I started noticing my traction control light would come on for no reason and go off within a mile. I took it in and they recalibrated the wheel sensors because they thought they were out of order. Got the truck back and the same thing was happening. So they noticed a code for the clock spring behind the steering wheel. They replaced that not once, not twice, but 3 times. Apparently the part# in the book was incorrect in for my build date so they thought they were getting the wrong part. They found out during this that my steering alignment was showing 260 degrees with the wheels straight. So they got Ford Motor involved and they told the dealer to reprogram my ABS modular because it needed it. Well for some reason it wiped it out and had to be replaced. Got the new ABS modual in and it didn’t change anything with the existing problem. So Ford had them run more tests on speed sensors and angle sensors and other things and came up with my restraint control modual needs replacing. Guess what that didn’t do anything differently. So now their plan is to swap my tires and wheels from another truck because they say that one of my tires could be smaller then another. I picked up the truck tonight so I will drive it for a few days and see what happens. The service dept at the dealership and the mechanic have been great but they are hitting a wall every time and it’s getting frustrating for everyone involved. I have been in contact with Ford Motor and they are reviewing the work done and are going to be in contact next week. I would really like for them to fix my truck rather then fight a lemon law or a buy back but it’s been six months and nothing has changed. I’m getting rather annoyed. . Has anyone experienced this issue before.
I have a 2011 6.2l where the traction control would go beserk when driving slow through a parking lot on a dry summer day. Happened maybe three times over the course of sbout two years. Mileage was maybe around 45,000. Don’t think it has done it for about three years. It went away on its own. I do manually turn it off when I remember though, so maybe me turning it off alot did something; who knows.
Doesn’t the Ford traction control run off the ABS sensors? Might have one that some road debris hit, damaging the wire or plug at the sensor. Pull off each wheel and inspect the ABS sensor wiring.
So far with the new tires and wheels the light has not come on. I am really hoping this solves the problem. The ford mechanic at the dealer tested the wheel sensors and they all came back functioning normally. He also meticulously looked over the wiring for these moduals as well as applied dialectic grease to all the plugs. They are definitely taking care of me. So far they have close to 35 hours into the truck as well as some expensive parts. I am so glad there’s a warranty on this.
