Hey guys,
Well, my days of being a bachelor are almost at an end.Getting married next Sat. to a wonderful woman. A fairly big event,
150-175 to attend. We've known each other for more than 4 years.Started as a good friendship and turned into this! She digs the Bronco and all we do with it, beach, fishing, camping etc. I'm 42 and she's 30. 1st time being married for us both.I guess thru all the ups and downs in my life,I was just waiting to meet her.
Any advice or words of wisdom from those who are a part of this institution?
Congrats man! I've been married now for a little over a year. Take it slow man, and never give up! If it isn't worth fighting for, it's not worth it at all.
I think in this day and age, it would be nice to regard marriage as something that HAS to last. It is so easy to let things slide, and then it falls apart. Work at your marriage from day one, learn how to please your partner, and share your life with her. Stay with her through good and bad, and the reward will be a feeling greater than you have now.
Don't go to sleep with a grudge, or argument going on, talk out differences and respect your wife. Marriage is an important step, that should be regarded as permanent.
Most important, if you start to feel overwhelmed by life, talk to your wife, that is really what she is there for..
Thanks for all the good words and advice.
Please keep 'em coming!
DW, thanks for the offer. If you want to make the long trip you're more than welcome.Seriously though, the BRONCO will be resting up that day for the honeymoon trip.We rented a big Excursion
that my Best Man will be driving for us.
I actualy did that once for my cousin, except it was for his fully restored vette, he had it at the church, he had planned on taking it on the honey moon, at 6'1" tall and 260lbs. at the time, the friends and family wasnt to happy when they came around the conner and i wouldn't let them touch it. Congrat's!!! I've been married for 33years (as of 10/23/03) and wouldn't know how to be anything else! Advice? Well, my wife is my BEST friend and I guess that would be my advice, always be her best friend and she will probably do the same! Good luck to both of you!
I think the best advise I could give you, besides what Theo said, is to remember that your wife has to come first. over the kids, family, and job. I know that it sounds crazy but that is probably the truest thing I have ever heard. Been there for 28 years now, almost 29, it hasn't always been fun but overall its worth it.
Again Congratulations. Kiss the bride once for me.
Will do SDually.Thanks.
Had the 1st. major obstacle yesterday. We were going to have the reception outside.175 guests,catered,d.j. the whole bit. With
Isabel on the way,we had to move it indoors.Luckily found a hall
that was available for the big day.And also let us bring our own caterer. Most halls around here,it comes as a package deal. Hall,caterer,d.j. etc.
ok gents, i gotta toss in my .02 cents here for advice. . .
after being married for almost 9 and a half years, i have learned one important lesson. . .
are you ready?
ok here goes, take notes there will be a test!
it is far and above all things easier to ask her for forgivness,, than it is to ask her for permission!
Congrats !
My cousin just got married. (Smaller wedding, about 75 people). I'm not even close to being married, so I have no advise to give you Just good luck, be happy, and remember to take the time to make the wife happy
Well,I'm a married man.Great ceremony and the reception was a blast! The new wifey is still snoozin',guess I wore her out last nite,he-he.Thanks for all the great advice. The honeymoon is postponed. We were planning on 2 weeks on the Outer Banks.
The house we rented came thru Izzy unscathed, but the main hi-way,Rt.12 has been covered with sand and the roadway undermined in spots. We wish all the best to the residents down there and hope to get word soon that we can go down.
Thanks again.
