Ok i know this is going to sound redundant but i really dont want to mess up my truck because of LEDs. What is the proper way to install them. Do i need to put resistors on every single LED i install? Also if i put them in my brake lights do i need to add one to my 3rd brake light as well?
I have leds in just about every light in my truck.
You'll have to use resisters in the rear brake lights, not sure for the third light as I dont have one.
The rest can run leds no problems.
These are more expensive, but they wont fail on you like the cheap ones on ebay and amazon

Only lights that blink need resistors. Check the packaging, and reviews on the LED's before you buy, some have the resistor built in. You can also buy flasher cans that are LED compatible. Once again check the packaging, and reviews for actual requirements.
One place you don't want to put one is the alternator light in the instrument panel. My '87 never recovered from that attempt. Not sure what I did, but hot wiring the exciter terminal on the alternator was the only way I found to continue using the truck.
There needs to be some resistance on the exciter wire(the bulb itself) for the alternator to start charging. When I installed a 3G alt in my old '69 F250 I installed a 560 ohm resistor fed from the battery + lug on the starter solenoid. That truck didn't have idiot lights, but gauges so I had to wire in the resistor instead of using the bulb in the dash.
This is also why on the back of the instrument cluster you will see a resistor wired in parallel with the battery indicator bulb. If the bulb were to burn out the resistor would still be enough to tell the alternator to charge.
