Any setup will work, but my personal opinion is Flowmaster. I got 3" single catback on my '94 5.8, I don't think this sound could come out of any other muffler.
Hope you don't mind me dragging this back up but quick question. Jegs sells a 2.5" cat back kit. Anyone bough this? How was the install? Also should I keep looking and part together a 3" setup? Will the difference be noticable anyplace but my wallet?
If you are going to spend money on a catback kit, why only increase youre pipe diameter a quarter of an inch? I would definatley keep searching for a three inch setup. As for noticeable, it all depends what system you buy. Some people will tell you some mufflers dont do much more than make your truck louder.
OK I'll keep looking. So far there are no 3" off the shelf components around. Jegs is the only ones even offering the 2.5 upgrade. About a dozen other sites all advertise to 2.25" system. I just can't swing the $350 for a full custom 3" install right now. Maybe I'll just go back to the stock and try for the upgrade some other time when cash isn't so tight. Gotta do something soon whatever I do. Mufflers got holes and inspection expired 3 days ago. Here in MA they frown on that as I'm sure you know.
Bassani's cat-back is definitely 3" and I believe Gibson's is too. Check www.proficientperformance.com They are a great source of reference for many of the aftermarket intake and exhaust upgrades available. Was just there yesterday and even the pricing didn't look bad.
Yup, the 'streak has it right. I dont know why you havent found ANY 3" variants yet. That is the most popular aftermarket catback size! If youre really in a crunch, I still have the stock catback from my 96 sitting in my garage Ive been looking to get rid off for short, short change.
Sorry i should have been clearer. I did find the Gibson 3" kit. I was just specifically looking for the Flowmaster sound. JC whitney does have a real good price on that gibson kit, around $290.00. I may just slap a muffler bandage on for now, see if I pass inspection and save my pennies for the full custom. $400 for a 2.25"in/dual 2.5" Out Delta 50 SUV with Stainless tips, installed.
I can go stock cat back fo about $120 if I wanna go that route. Cheaper than that?
Yeah, like twenty five dollars. It has some surface rust, but doesnt leak as far as I know. Just need the stock hanger that surrounds the muffler (seems the shop cut the prongs off the hanger). But its a complete unit (Ill get you some pics if you want, just email me). Are you set on duals on a bronco? If so, thats fine. If not, you might want to use the search function for 'dual exhaust' in this forum. I dont want to sway you either way, just thought Id let you know there are some possible cons.
Im wanting to go with true duals on my 90 model bronco. So far everyone ive talked to says true duals would be hard to do cause of the transfer case in the way. Im wanting to go with glass packs and 4 inch chrome tips, about 18 inches long. Is the transfer case a major problem as far as duals, or are the ppl just lazy and dont wanna do a custom job? I was also wanting to exit out in front of my rear tires, they have told me that its almost impossible to do on a bronco cause of the short wheel base and the transfer case. Any suggestions on true dual exhaust?
