air vent control

Hi all, I have 1997 f-150 4x4, recently my truck would switch- by itself from any air vent control position/ floor or panel/ to DEFROST. IT HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES. Now the only postion I have is defrost?? Warm or cold setting all I get is air out of the defrost vents.?/ Thanks to anyone for ANY HELP. Paul

Sounds like a vacuum line has come off or dryrotted. Look around under the hood, especially near the firewall and passenger side fenderwell.

Thanks lxman. I am doing that but not finding anything? What about the control switch in the dash, electrical??

Hey I found the vaccum leak ,,--thanks --lxman1-- I found it right between the firewall and the back side of the battery, The battery has leaked a little and the acid got thru the vac. line... with a little patch work, all is good. thanks again. Paul
