Some time ago I asked for help on this subject, and now I need help again, and this time it's for me.
My Cruise Control and Horn quit, but not the Cigar lighter.
I dont have a schematic, but I seem to remember talk of a Relay down under the dash somewhere.
Can someone with a book run this down for me?
It sounds like a "Clock spring" problem. Question: Does the airbag light flash on the dashboard? The clock spring is the electrical link between the steering wheel and the steering column. They are known to wear and break connection to all of the electrical components on the steering wheel. Jake.
Fuel Filter light? What model(s) is this on? I have never seen it. Is it a Diesel? My 95 with the 300 I6 was running like crap until I changed the filter, but I never saw a light.
Is there an easy way to change them? I bought the cheap plastic quick disconnect tool from AutoZone and it took me 25 minutes to get the darn thing off. I heard the metal tools work better.
My truck did the same thing about a month ago. One day everything worked, and the next it didn't. Mine's a '90 F250 so I didn't have an airbag to worry about, so I simply took the screws out, removed the front cover on the steering wheel. You'll find some plug-in spring connections connecting the switches for your cruise and horn to the steering wheel. Mine was simply a case of one of these having come loose. Doesn't look like they're in there very securely. At any rate, with the touch of a finger, I slipped the connection back into its slot, and I'm back in service now.
