I don't know about shaming the simple fact is you can go to Walmart and buy the official Ford Motorcraft filter for $19 and never worry about a warranty claim with engine failure when they catch you with a Wix filter or any other brand for that matter. I just don't understand why anyone wouldn't use the official Ford filter the oil that's another matter I agree there's a lot of good other Alternatives out there but as far as the filter I wouldn't give them the chance to shoot at me when they try to use so many other reasons not to warranty engines LOL take care and Merry Christmas

i'd stick with the M/C on the PSD due to warranty.

I run a Napa air filter though.

My dealer charges $80, I might be able to do it for $60. It's on record and it's cheap insurance. No brainer.

This is nonsense, not that you like M/C but that a warranty denial would even make it out of a service advisors mouth before he realized that would be absurd.

Could you imagine that? Im sorry sir, we have denied your warranty claim. Why you ask? because you have an STP oil filter on your truck, oh and you also have gas station pump air in your tires.

You were going to change your oil at 769 miles, correct? I'll assume your truck is new. What do you have? Just curious....

I used to use the Mobil 1's, K&N's and also Purolators on my other vehicles.
But having a vehicle on warranty and after looking into the MotorCraft oil filter, It's a good filter. But like poison, to each his own.

Personally, I wouldn't bother changing early if you're just putting the same oil back in that you're draining. I changed mine at 1k to 5w40 syn and do it at 5k intervals now. I would have no problem running a WIX filter. I bought a bunch of MC ones one cheap but am going to M1 when I run out. I have absolutely no warranty concern doing so.

The OEM oil filters scenario goes back to the days of the 6.0. A lot of the am's used adapters and different caps to get around patent infringement and some of them did cause major problems. Some even defeated the anti-drain back valve creating dry starts. Ford has since gone back to the can type filter which I will assume illuminates some of those risks. I myself will use OEMs only however if you use a name brand filter the risk has probably been eliminated. The same went for the air filters. The factory Donaldson was probably the best filter money could buy at the time but some people just couldn't wrap their heads around that fact.
