Is anything simple??? So I receive my pre-bent fuel pump to carburetor metal line for my 55 223 Six from National Parts Depot. Both ends have a 1/2" fittings and wouldn't you know it...the fuel pump outlet is too small for it will need a 7/16 fitting. You would think the carb and fuel pump would accept the same size fittings. Is mine the exception or are the inlets of the Holley 1904 and Airtex Fuel Pumps require different size fittings? I guess either I go through the pain of returning or if they are available, find a 7/16 to 1/2 adapter that will allow me to connect the line. On a brighter thought...Merry Christmas to all. Steve
you didn't mention the sex of the connections... but I assume male on the line and female on the pump... several ways you can adapt and save the return hassle... google ' brass adapters' probably with a a 1/2-7/16 double male and a 1/2" coupling... sure saves the other way of returning/shipping...
Hi John. Sorry-yes, male on the line. The brass adapter looks like the ticket. Hopefully my local auto parts store will have some. After I posted the thread, I took a look at some 223s on Google and saw adapters on the fuel pumps that were using hard lines.
auto parts may or may not have them depending on how they stock... I've had good luck with big truck stores... my local guy has a wall full of fittings... they do a lot of air and hydraulic and fuel stuff so need lots of options... they are also behind google everywhere... gud luck
he's gotta go other way MM... 1/2 flared to 7/16 npt female
Ok, I understand the 1/2" inverted flare nut is used for 5/16" tubing, but I've never heard of 7/16" NPT. Are you thinking of 7/16-24 inverted flare nuts for 1/4" tubing? On my fuel pump I used 1/4 tubing on the discharge using a 7/16 inverted flare nut against a 1/4" brass compression ferrule. Look at your pump discharge port closely, it's designed for this.
I think I'm just muddying the waters. I'll shut up.
