Another issue with my 2007 E450 shuttle bus, 6.0 dual alternator. Only 130,000 miles. Recently found out I have a second alternator but the belt isn't attached. Wondering what effect that might have. I just started receiving a code about it after owning it for a year.
Also, it's been freezing rain here and snow but last night first time ever, I started it up and it was blowing black exhaust, after it warmed up it ran great. As I pulled into my driveway it started knocking and I pulled some codes. The new ones were
P0620, P1148, P0281 . The rest I've been trying to troubleshoot for quite a while.
I've been reading up on changing the injectors, what a nightmare.
Sounds like turbo issues would be easier than injectors but what are the chances of the turbo being the main problem? Thanks for any and all help!
I've cleaned the EGR a couple of times but haven't done the turbo yet. Thank goodness for the late Diesel Ron who made the video on YouTube!
i guess doing that again and tackling the turbo is my next step.
Thanks
Last time I cleaned the EGR Underneath the EGR
Do you let it idle a long time, have a high idle switch? I know your in snow but if can get it on a clean road and blow the crap out the intake. Clear codes and reck, if egr is that cocked your iat prob is too, screwed in the right side intake with a wire plugin. Ck to make sure where the map hose connects to the intake is clear, pull hose and stick something thru brass fitting in intake to clean out, ck rubber hose for cracks at the end at brass fitting.
I took it for a test drive and barely made it back home. It's 15 degrees here but she's blowing some serious exhaust. Will idle only in PARK ... When she stalled , she fired right back up again, but wouldn't shift out of PARK. So I had to start in NEUTRAL just to get back home. Just took this video 10 min ago.
